Odile Uwera is a Rwandan self-taught illustrator and writer. She currently works as a freelance illustrator while she develops her body of work as a writer. Her work explores the navigation of individual identity in relation to collective identity. In 2023, her comics were exhibited in Germany as part of the Goethe Institut’s transnational “Africomics” project, and her comic strip “Nameless in Cape Coast” was published in the “AfriComics” anthology. In 2022, she presented her solo exhibition “untitled - a journal of uncertain times” in Kigali and has since participated in several group exhibitions in Africa & Europe.
